The government has announced a minor reduction in fuel prices, with petrol decreasing by Rs0.50 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.19 per litre. Effective from August 28, petrol will now cost Rs342.60 per litre, while HSD will be priced at Rs371.61 per litre.
This latest adjustment comes amid significant fluctuations in fuel costs, which have seen HSD prices peak at Rs520.35 in early April, following a rise triggered by geopolitical tensions after the US-Iran conflict began.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik indicated that the government will shift to daily fuel price adjustments based on international market trends. This approach aims to stabilize prices for consumers, especially impacting middle and lower-middle classes reliant on these fuels for transportation.
