Fuel Prices Rise Again as Government Adjusts Rates

In a fresh adjustment, the government has increased petrol prices by Rs1.12 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.11 per litre. Effective on August 26 and 27, petrol will now be priced at Rs343.10 per litre, while HSD will cost Rs371.80 per litre.
This revision comes amid ongoing fluctuations in the global oil market, prompted by tensions between the US and Iran. As a result, the government is shifting to daily fuel price adjustments, a change announced by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik.
This latest hike follows a significant peak in prices earlier this year, with petrol reaching Rs458.41 and HSD peaking at Rs520.35. The government continues to impose substantial taxes, with Rs114 on petrol and Rs100 on diesel, impacting both private transport and the heavy transport sector.
