Fury Casts Doubt on Joshua Showdown Amid Financial Disputes

By Editor • August 21, 2026 • 1 min read

Tyson Fury, the former heavyweight champion, has expressed skepticism about his highly anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua, labeling it increasingly unlikely. Fury's frustration centers around accusations of greed directed at Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn.

Initially, the bout was set for November, backed by a contract with Turki Alalshikh of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. However, uncertainty looms as no date or venue has been confirmed. Fury took to Instagram, criticizing the duo for their financial demands, stating, "Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight… all because Eddie Hearn and that want more money.”

While reports suggest Joshua and Hearn are pushing for a UK venue, Saudi organizers are eyeing Madison Square Garden in New York as a potential location. Fury slammed Joshua for seeking a larger purse and declared he would seek other opponents if negotiations failed, branding Joshua a "little coward" for avoiding a bout with him.
