Galaxy Z Fold8 Teardown Reveals Repair Challenges

By Editor • August 13, 2026 • 1 min read

The Galaxy Z Fold8 has recently undergone a teardown by iFixit, revealing a mixed bag of repairability results. Scoring 4 out of 10, it surpasses last year's Z Fold7 but still falls short of typical smartphone standards.

One major concern is the folding screen, which proved difficult to replace; damage to the plastic bezels can result in a ruined OLED layer. The device's IP48 rating also struggles against dust, allowing it to infiltrate the hinge.

On a brighter note, the Fold8 features standard Phillips screws, a removable back plate, and a modular USB-C port. Batteries come with pull tabs for easier removal, though they can bend easily.
