Graeme Dott Convicted of Child Sexual Abuse Charges

Graeme Dott, the former world snooker champion, has been found guilty of child sexual abuse following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The 49-year-old, who won the World Snooker Championship in 2006, faced two charges of lewd and libidinous behavior involving a girl and a boy over a period spanning from 1993 to 2010.

During the five-day trial, the court heard harrowing testimony from the victims. The girl, now in her 40s, recounted instances where Dott had exposed himself and inappropriately touched her during piggyback rides. She described a disturbing encounter where he suggested she lower her trousers and kissed her stomach while playing a guessing game.

The boy, currently in his 20s, detailed his experiences of abuse, which began shortly after Dott's championship victory. He recalled incidents of molestation in various settings, including a shower and a car, often followed by rewards like snacks and money, which later led to accusations of theft.

Upon hearing the verdict, Dott covered his face and shook his head, maintaining throughout the trial that the allegations were false. He is set to be sentenced on September 29 in Edinburgh, where the impact of his actions will be considered.
