Historic State of Origin Set for New Zealand Debut in 2027

The men's rugby league State of Origin is making its way to New Zealand for the very first time, as confirmed by the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) on Tuesday.
The landmark match, part of the 2027 series, will unfold at Auckland's Eden Park on June 16, 2027. This event marks a significant moment in rugby league history, being only the second instance of the State of Origin being played outside Australia, following a match in California in 1987.
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys expressed excitement about this unique event, highlighting the intense atmosphere and rivalry that defines State of Origin. The match will be complemented by a week-long festival of rugby league in Auckland, beginning with a Warriors game before the main event, promising a vibrant showcase of the sport.
