Hamilton Urges Ferrari to Establish Clear Racing Protocols After Leclerc Incident

Lewis Hamilton has called for formalized racing protocols at Ferrari following a significant clash with teammate Charles Leclerc during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The incident, which occurred early in the race, resulted in Leclerc crashing out and Hamilton losing vital positions on the track.

During the opening lap, Hamilton and Leclerc, both starting from the second row, battled fiercely. Hamilton found himself forced into the gravel, dropping from fourth to tenth place. Ultimately, he finished sixth, falling behind Mercedes' championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who secured victory at the race.

Need for Structured Engagement Rules

In a post-race interview, Hamilton expressed his disappointment with Ferrari's lack of structured racing rules. He reminisced about his time at Mercedes, where clear guidelines helped prevent conflicts among teammates. "I think it comes down to rules of engagement. When I was at Mercedes, we had written rules of engagement. And we never really had it too bad," Hamilton explained.

Discontent and Fan Frustration

Hamilton lamented the situation for the passionate Ferrari fans, especially as the event attracted a record attendance of 403,666 spectators. "I think today we just lost so much ground to them (Mercedes) on points, and it’s far too late for those decisions to come," he noted. Addressing Leclerc's comments about their racing dynamics, Hamilton insisted that he was ahead at a critical moment, asserting, "there's no 'we' in it," reinforcing his stance on the incident.

Former F1 champion Nico Rosberg, now a commentator, sided with Hamilton, stating, "Lewis was ahead going in, so Charles has to leave room. And he didn’t, so it was 100% Charles’ fault, and that’s it." This incident has raised questions about teammate dynamics at Ferrari and the necessity for clearer regulations to ensure fair competition.
