Hong Kong Revises Heat Stress Warning System Following Backlash

In response to recent criticism, Hong Kong has announced an update to its Heat Stress at Work warning system. The Labour Department revealed that the activation threshold will now trigger alerts when temperatures reach 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) across several districts.
This adjustment comes just two weeks after the system faced scrutiny for not issuing adequate alerts during extreme heat conditions, which left outdoor workers vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
The new measures aim to enhance the safety of those working outdoors by ensuring timely warnings that encourage proactive steps to avoid heatstroke.
