Imran Khan Appeals for Urgent Release Amid Isolation Concerns

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is increasingly anxious about his health and safety while in solitary confinement, according to his sister, Dr Uzma Khan. Following a medical check-up at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), she revealed that Khan fears he may meet a fate similar to that of Egypt’s Mohamed Morsi, who died in isolation.
In a press conference accompanied by PTI leaders, Dr Uzma highlighted that her brother has been deprived of human interaction for nearly ten months, which he deems a form of ‘mental torture.’ She stated that Khan has been experiencing severe anxiety and high blood pressure, exacerbated by his treatment in prison.
Imran Khan has requested that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi expedite efforts for his release. Meanwhile, the PTI opposition alliance is preparing for a major protest on September 27. PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram criticized the government for seemingly ignoring Supreme Court orders regarding Khan's health assessment, raising doubts about the integrity of his medical evaluations.
