PTI Criticizes Government for Ignoring Supreme Court Directive on Imran Khan's Medical Care

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has voiced strong disapproval of the government's decision to transfer their leader, Imran Khan, to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of the designated Shifa International Hospital. This move comes in direct violation of a Supreme Court order issued earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court mandated that Khan, who is currently incarcerated, be moved to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment. Despite the heavy police presence around Shifa, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Friday that Khan had instead been taken to PIMS.

Uzma Khan, Imran's sister, recounted her experience of arriving at Adiala jail for her brother's medical examination. She described being taken to various locations without clear answers from the police regarding her inquiries about Dr. Faisal Sultan, Imran's personal physician. Eventually, she was brought to PIMS, where she expressed confusion over the shift from Shifa to PIMS, as mandated by the Supreme Court.

Upon arrival at PIMS, Uzma recounted a dimly lit environment and her surprise at seeing her brother, whom she had not met in ten months. During the examination, she noted that the medical team seemed unaware of Imran’s prescribed eye drops, further indicating a lack of preparedness for his treatment.

Uzma disclosed that doctors indicated Imran needed immediate tests and an injection, but she reiterated that they were supposed to be at Shifa for his checkup. This incident has raised concerns over the government's adherence to the Supreme Court's orders and the treatment of the former Prime Minister.
