Investigation Underway into Tragic Death of 16-Year-Old Sydney Girl

The death of a 16-year-old girl from Sydney is currently under investigation by police, suspected to involve a sexual choking incident. Emergency services responded to a welfare concern at a residence in Elanora Heights on Sunday evening, where they found the teenager unresponsive.

She was subsequently airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in critical condition but sadly did not survive. While the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, sources indicate asphyxiation during consensual sexual activity may be involved.

No arrests have been made as authorities, including the Northern Beaches Police Area Command, continue their inquiry. Independent MP Zali Steggall described the situation as devastating, expressing her condolences to the girl's family and community.
