In a tragic case that has shocked the community, 18-year-old Carson Peters-Berger has received a life sentence after pleading guilty to the murder of his 10-year-old cousin, Iliana "Lily" Peters, in Wisconsin.
The incident occurred on April 24, 2022, when Peters-Berger, then 14, lured Lily into the woods while she was riding her bicycle home from her aunt's house. Hours later, her father reported her missing.
Following the discovery of her body, an autopsy revealed she had been beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted. Peters-Berger was arrested the next day and charged as an adult, despite attempts by his defense to move the case to juvenile court. Chippewa County Judge Steven Gibbs accepted the guilty plea, dismissing two additional charges as part of a plea agreement.
