Japanese Family Among Missing After Nepal's Devastating Floods

A tragic situation unfolds as a Japanese family of five is feared lost in the aftermath of severe flash floods and landslides that struck the Nepal-Tibet border. Reports indicate that the Yamamoto family, comprising the parents in their 40s and their three children aged 10, 6, and 3, are among over 2,400 individuals still unaccounted for.

Authorities revealed that the family was last in contact with their driver near the border just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, coinciding with the onset of the disaster. A hotel reservation in Kathmandu, made under the mother's name, was confirmed for two nights starting Wednesday, but the family has not arrived.

While the cause of the devastation has been attributed to a glacier collapse and subsequent landslide, the Japanese government has not yet verified if the missing nationals are indeed the Yamamoto family.
