Maison Cédrat Unveils Aura Collection: A Fusion of Clay and Light
By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read
In the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France, Maison Cédrat has launched the Aura lighting collection, crafted by designers Pierre Samouilla and Alix Lalucaa. This innovative series invites a new perspective on illumination, treating light as a dynamic medium that enhances the texture and atmosphere of a space.
The Aura collection comprises three distinctive lamps: Lumia, Écla, and Nova. Each piece beautifully contrasts the heavy, earthy quality of clay with the delicate, translucent nature of handcrafted washi paper. By day, these lamps present a minimalist design focused on form and texture; at night, they transform into glowing fixtures, casting a warm light reminiscent of Mediterranean sunsets.
Every lamp is meticulously handmade in France, showcasing natural materials and traditional techniques. The clay bases, available in raw, terracotta, and black finishes, retain a tactile quality that emphasizes their artisanal origins. In contrast, the washi paper shades introduce an element of softness, allowing light to diffuse in a captivating manner.
The design trio emphasizes balanced proportions across the collection. Lumia operates as a table lamp, while Écla offers a more compact design, and Nova hangs gracefully with its cloud-like paper shade. Together, they create an ambient atmosphere, encouraging a more contemplative interaction with the surrounding space.
