Mel Gibson is under fire after an incident over the weekend at Fan Expo Canada, where he appeared to mock an American Sign Language interpreter during his appearance.
As he took the stage for a Q&A session, Gibson was seen making hand gestures that many interpreted as disrespectful to the interpreter present. Following significant backlash on social media, the actor issued an apology, stating, "Sometimes spontaneous thoughtless idiocy is displayed — there was no intended maliciousness attached, and I certainly apologize to anyone who was upset by it."
This controversy comes as Gibson prepares for the release of his two-part film, The Resurrection of Christ, with the first installment set for May 6, 2027.
