North Korea Prepares for Asian Games with 100 Athletes

North Korea is set to field a contingent of approximately 100 athletes for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, as revealed by a senior official. The aim, as stated by Ko Chol Ho, secretary general of the North Korean Olympic committee, is to "bring joy to Marshal Kim Jong Un." This marks a notable return for the nation, which had previously suspended its international sports participation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The North Korean delegation will compete in 14 different sports, including men’s and women’s football, boxing, weightlifting, and wrestling. Ko expressed optimism about the team's potential to earn more medals than during the last Games in Hangzhou, where they secured 11 golds, primarily in weightlifting.
With the event scheduled from September 19 to October 4, morale among the athletes remains high, fueled by a strong desire to achieve success for their leader.
