MILAN — In a mutual decision, Off-White has announced that creative director Ib Kamara will be leaving the brand, marking a significant shift for the fashion house he helped shape.

Kamara, who took on the role in spring 2022, had a long-standing collaboration with Off-White and worked closely with its late founder, Virgil Abloh. Joey Gabbay, the CEO of Bluestar Alliance, which acquired Off-White in September 2024, expressed gratitude for Kamara's influential contributions during his time with the brand. “We are deeply grateful for Ib’s vision, creativity, and the remarkable energy he brought to Off-White,” Gabbay stated.

During his tenure, Kamara hosted three fashion shows in major cities like New York and Paris, including a notable event in September 2024 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, which attracted a star-studded front row featuring personalities such as Camila Cabello and Olympic athlete Ashleigh Johnson.

Reflecting on his experience, Kamara said, “Working at Off-White has been an honour and a profound creative education… Off-White is bigger than any one idea, exactly as Virgil intended.” He expressed pride in the work accomplished and excitement for the brand's future.

Bluestar Alliance has left the door open for potential future collaborations with Kamara, acknowledging his extraordinary talent. The company has been diversifying its portfolio, managing a variety of consumer brands and generating substantial retail sales.

Born in Sierra Leone, Kamara's creative journey has explored themes of gender, queerness, and Black identity, echoing Abloh's vision of inclusivity and cultural significance in fashion. With the launch of his creative agency, Raw Materials by Ib Kamara, in June 2025, he continues to forge his path in the fashion industry.
