Pakistan and Kuwait Strengthen Defence Ties with New Agreement

In a significant move to bolster military collaboration, Pakistan and Kuwait have committed to enhancing their defence partnership. This pledge was made during a meeting on Thursday between Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah and Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Accompanying the Kuwaiti minister was Lt Gen Khaled Darj Saad Al-Shriaan, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces. The discussions revolved around mutual interests, regional security, and expanding defence cooperation. Both nations expressed a strong desire to reinforce their historic ties through the newly signed ‘Protocol Agreement 2026’.

This agreement marks a significant expansion of military cooperation under the 2023 Defence Cooperation Agreement. It includes provisions for training, capacity building, and border management, demonstrating a clear commitment to regional peace and stability.
