In a firm response to Israeli military actions, Pakistan's Foreign Office condemned the recent airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur air base in Syria. Describing the assault as 'unprovoked,' the FO highlighted that such aggressive moves could jeopardize regional peace and stability.
The airstrikes, reported by Syria's state-run Ekhbariya television, targeted the runway and storage facilities at the base located near Aleppo. Fortunately, local sources indicated that there were no casualties from the attacks.
Expressing solidarity with the Syrian people, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Syria's sovereignty and called upon the international community to address the ongoing violations of international law by Israeli forces. The FO's statement emphasized the need for accountability regarding these destabilizing actions.
In a related context, U.S. envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, labeled the strikes as an 'unnecessary escalation' that fails to promote regional stability, urging all involved parties to engage in constructive dialogue instead of military confrontations.
The Israeli government defended its actions by asserting that the airstrikes were a necessary response to perceived threats from Syrian forces, particularly regarding Turkish military deployments in the region. Meanwhile, Turkey's government criticized Israel's justification for its strikes, asserting they are undermining Syrian sovereignty.
