Tributes Pour In for Dave Marsh, Influential Music Biographer and Critic

Renowned music critic and biographer Dave Marsh, who significantly chronicled Bruce Springsteen's ascent in his seminal 1979 book “Born to Run,” has passed away at the age of 76 at his home in Connecticut. His death was confirmed by Jim Rotolo, host of SiriusXM’s “The Wild & The Innocent,” who expressed his condolences on social media.
Marsh, a stalwart in rock journalism, contributed extensively to Creem and Rolling Stone, and was instrumental in the creation of “E Street Radio.” For nearly two decades, he hosted the popular show “Kick Out the Jams,” cementing his legacy in music broadcasting.
Beyond Springsteen, Marsh authored works on numerous legendary artists, including The Who, The Beatles, and Black Sabbath. He was not only a passionate advocate for music but also a dedicated philanthropist, founding the Kristen Ann Carr Fund in memory of his daughter, who died from cancer in 1993. His contributions to music and advocacy will be fondly remembered.
