He credits his longstanding relationships with department heads, like editor Claire Simpson, whom he has worked with over 40 years, as pivotal to his filmmaking success. Their familiarity allows them to streamline the process, making it easier to tackle ambitious projects.

Simpson, who has collaborated with Scott since 'Someone to Watch Over Me', returned to his team in 2017 for 'All the Money in the World'. She and her co-editor, Sam Restivo, face the daunting task of piecing together a vast amount of footage shot in Scott's trademark fast-paced style. Restivo remarked on the unique challenge of the film’s opening scene, which introduces Hig, a pandemic survivor, without dialogue. The duo struggled initially but found their rhythm after experimenting with music, notably Hozier's 'Like Real People Do', which they felt perfectly complemented the scene's tone.

“It’s haunting, it’s kind of soulful, it’s a bit melancholy, but it’s wonderful,” Restivo said of the song, which helped clarify the film's emotional direction. Simpson echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaborative nature of their team, where ideas flow freely, guided by Scott’s clear communication.

Production designer Chris Seagers added to the praise for Scott's detailed storyboards, stating that they serve as a foundation for their creative discussions about practical and visual effects. Special effects supervisor Neil Corbould emphasized their commitment to realism, sharing that they used a combination of real and electric planes to create an immersive experience for audiences.
