As climate change intensifies, the 2.4 million farmworkers in the U.S. face greater dangers from pesticide exposure. Research indicates that elevated heat levels can compromise bodily defenses, making workers more susceptible to toxic chemicals.
Additionally, extreme temperatures can lead to faster evaporation rates, increasing pesticide applications and exposure. Omanjana Goswami from the Union for Concerned Scientists highlights the grim reality, stating, "It is awful. There is no other word for it."
