Seiko Unveils Bold New Watch Designs in London Exhibition

By Editor • August 18, 2026 • 1 min read

Seiko is pushing the boundaries of watch design with its latest exhibition, the Power Design Project, held at Japan House in London. Titled "Passionately and Obsessively Crafted Watches," this event showcases the creative freedom of Seiko's in-house designers.

Shinichiro Kubo, the Grand Seiko design director, encouraged designers to step outside conventional limits, stating, "We welcome ideas that go all out!" This freedom has led to playful innovations, such as cat-shaped hands and textured dials that replace traditional indices.

Hisashi Fujieda from Seiko's R&D Department addressed the relevance of watches today, noting the challenge of maintaining interest in analogue timepieces in a digital world. By showcasing their artistry, Seiko aims to rekindle appreciation for the beauty of traditional watches.

The exhibition runs from August 27 to September 15, 2026, and promises to attract both watch aficionados and newcomers alike, a testament to Seiko's commitment to engaging a broader audience.
