Tate Brothers Under Investigation for Alleged Russian Propaganda Video

Andrew and Tristan Tate have come under scrutiny from Britain's counter-terrorism unit following the release of a video that allegedly promotes Russian propaganda. The footage, shared on their social media in June, depicts the siblings in military attire riding a Soviet-era tank and engaging in weapon training while being guided by an individual who mentions a potential reward from the Russian defense minister.
The complaint was filed by Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Stamford, who expressed concern over the Tates' actions, stating, "Putin has his latest propaganda puppets: the Tate Brothers." Kearns emphasized that anyone disseminating propaganda for foreign governments must register under the National Security Act. She has called for an investigation into how the Tates accessed a Russian military base and whether they received any assistance from the Russian state.
In response, a representative for the Tates claimed their visit was purely personal and insisted they did not receive any financial support or directives from Russia. The spokesperson likened their activities to common American pastimes, asserting that engaging with firearms should not be misconstrued as military training.
Kearns is advocating for an investigation to determine if the Tates are required to register under the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme, which mandates transparency from individuals acting on behalf of foreign entities in the UK. This scrutiny comes on the heels of the brothers' controversial remarks regarding Russia, including praise for Vladimir Putin and comments that suggest a sympathetic view towards the Russian perspective in the Ukraine conflict. The Tates are currently facing separate legal issues related to charges of rape and trafficking in the United States.
