The Sole Trebuchet Victim Unearthed in Scotland

By Editor • August 17, 2026 • 1 min read

In a remarkable discovery at Scotland’s Stirling Castle, archaeologists have identified the only known victim of a trebuchet strike. Dubbed Skeleton 150, this unfortunate defender met a grim fate when a boulder struck him at nearly 300 kilometers per hour, resulting in catastrophic injuries.

Jo Buckberry, a paleopathologist from the University of Bradford, revealed that the skeleton suffered 61 skull fractures and extensive damage to his ribs and limbs. This unique finding highlights the brutal realities of medieval warfare.
