Tragic Plane Crash in Alaska Claims Four Lives

A small aircraft tragically went down in shallow waters near the remote town of Seldovia, Alaska, on August 26, 2026, resulting in the deaths of all four individuals on board.

The Piper PA-24 was en route from Anchorage to Seldovia when it crashed into the Seldovia Slough, submerging approximately 15 feet beneath the surface. Recovery efforts by local troopers were delayed until the tide receded, allowing access to the site.

The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed, pending notification of family members, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety. U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan expressed his condolences and emphasized his dedication to enhancing aviation safety in Alaska, highlighting the necessity for ongoing improvements in infrastructure.
