U.S. Targets ICC Leadership with Sanctions Amid Controversy

The U.S. has taken a significant step by sanctioning Tomoko Akane, the Japanese president of the International Criminal Court (ICC), along with senior lawyer Abdoulaye Seye.
These sanctions, announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are part of a broader initiative against what the Trump administration describes as a "corrupt and fatally politicized" institution.
As a result, their U.S. assets are frozen, and they face restrictions on dealings with American firms, alongside a general ban on entering the country.
