In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Russia has accused the United Kingdom of exacerbating the ongoing Ukraine crisis by supplying British-made drones utilized in strikes within Russian territory. The Russian Embassy in London issued a statement labeling the UK as a 'co-perpetrator' of what it termed 'bloody crimes and terrorist attacks.'
Russian officials warned that the UK's involvement would lead to dire consequences, cautioning that 'the deeper its involvement in the conflict, the higher the price it will pay.'
In contrast, a spokesperson from the UK Ministry of Defence reaffirmed Britain's commitment to Ukraine, stating that the UK stands 'shoulder to shoulder' with the embattled nation. They emphasized the UK's dedication to providing essential defense equipment against Russian aggression.
The drones, produced by British firms, have been effectively targeting military and industrial sites across Russia, including logistics centers of Wildberries, often referred to as Russia's Amazon. Reports indicate that these strikes have inflicted over £35 billion in economic damage.
The conflict remains intense, with recent exchanges of drone strikes resulting in injuries on both sides. Russian media reported that air defenses intercepted over 180 drones aimed at Moscow, while Ukraine faced significant retaliatory strikes, claiming lives and injuring many in the ongoing conflict.
