The United States is strategically altering the landscape of Venezuela's telecommunications industry by permitting new investments and technology, while specifically barring Chinese companies from participating. This move by the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) comes through two general licenses issued on Friday, which relax some of the existing sanctions on Venezuela's telecom sector.
