US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Military Strikes Resurface

In a significant escalation of hostilities, US forces launched airstrikes against Iranian rocket launchers situated on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, marking the first military action in a month. This strike has provoked a fierce response from Iran, which vowed to retaliate for what it termed a deadly assault.
Following the US attack, Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for targeting US military installations in Jordan, asserting that they struck various facilities at the King Hussein and Al-Azraq airbases using ballistic missiles, leading to substantial damage. Meanwhile, Jordan's military confirmed it intercepted eight missiles that breached its airspace shortly after the Iranian strikes.

In a sign of the ongoing tensions, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has plummeted, with only five visible commodity vessels reported transiting the strait as companies adopt precautionary measures amid the rising threat of attacks.
In the wake of these developments, oil prices surged over 2%, with Brent crude rising above $90 a barrel. The US Treasury Secretary announced plans for further sanctions on Iranian financial institutions, emphasizing a commitment to isolate Iran economically.
