Verstappen Reaffirms Commitment to Red Bull with New Contract Through 2030

By Editor • August 20, 2026 • 1 min read

Max Verstappen has officially extended his contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2030, quelling doubts about his future in Formula One. The 28-year-old Dutch driver previously had a deal that lasted until 2028, but it included break clauses that allowed for a potential exit if the team didn’t deliver a competitive car.

Reports from Dutch media suggested that these performance clauses might have been activated this season, as Verstappen has yet to clinch a victory in 2026. Currently, he sits sixth in the championship standings, trailing leaders Mercedes by 110 points after 11 races.

Despite recent speculation linking him to teams like McLaren and Mercedes, Verstappen expressed satisfaction with his new deal. He stated, "I am really pleased with the contract extension… The team is like a second family for me," highlighting his deep connection with Red Bull since joining their junior program in 2014.

Team principal Laurent Mekies praised Verstappen’s influence on the team, noting that their partnership has been pivotal in Red Bull's success. He emphasized that there’s still more to achieve together, stating, "There are more races to win, more milestones to achieve and more history to write." As Red Bull competes with its own power unit in partnership with Ford this season, the focus now shifts to the upcoming races and potential changes in the driver lineup across the paddock.
