Alibaba.com has announced the results of a groundbreaking evaluation, showcasing its AI agent platform, Accio, which significantly reduces operational costs for e-commerce tasks. In a comprehensive 107-task benchmark, Accio demonstrated its capability to perform tasks at an estimated cost that is over 50% lower than competitors like OpenAI Codex and Anthropic’s Claude Code, without compromising on quality.
Revealed during the CoCreate event aimed at entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), Accio is designed to streamline operations by integrating research, sourcing, and daily e-commerce activities into a single AI workspace. Kuo Zhang, president of Alibaba.com, emphasized the platform's mission: to make AI practical and affordable, stating, "Unaffordable AI is useless for small businesses." He highlighted that the goal is not just to enhance AI capabilities, but to ensure that even the smallest companies can leverage this technology.
The efficiency of Accio stems from its specialized approach to e-commerce, utilizing commerce-specific intelligence that optimally allocates resources based on the nature of each task. This strategy allows smaller, lighter models to efficiently tackle routine functions while reserving more advanced models for complex reasoning, ultimately helping users save time and money.
