Israeli airstrikes on the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Remman have resulted in the deaths of at least nine individuals, as reported by the Lebanese health ministry. The strikes, which occurred overnight, have raised significant concerns about escalating violence in the region.
Casualties and Damage in Kfar Remman
The first airstrike targeted a residential building, destroying a three-storey structure and killing eight people, including a child and a woman. Additionally, a second strike on a vehicle claimed the life of a paramedic. The health ministry noted that 11 others were injured in these attacks, with the casualties including four children and two women.
International Reactions and Ceasefire Concerns
The recent violence comes as the Israeli military intensifies its operations in southern Lebanon, responding to alleged drone attacks from the Shia militant group Hezbollah. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the strikes as a "dangerous escalation," warning that they threaten a US-brokered ceasefire established in June. He has called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to halt its military actions.
While the Israeli military has not commented on the latest strikes, the foreign ministry accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire and attempting to bolster its military capabilities. The ongoing conflict has already claimed over 4,354 lives in Lebanon, highlighting the severe humanitarian toll of the hostilities.
