Drone Strike Claims Lives of Three Soldiers in Colombia

A recent drone assault in northeastern Colombia has resulted in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to four others, according to the Colombian army. The attack, which involved explosives dropped from drones, occurred late Friday in Ocaña, a municipality located in the Norte de Santander department, near the border with Venezuela.
The National Liberation Army (ELN), a longstanding rebel group, has been identified as responsible for the tragic incident. The military reported that two soldiers were killed at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries shortly after receiving medical treatment.
In response to the attack, President Abelardo de la Espriella expressed his outrage, vowing that the state would bring down the full force of the law on those responsible for the violence. The ELN, which has been active since 1964, operates mainly in the Catatumbo region, a key area for coca production and a hotspot for conflict involving various armed groups.
