EFCC Expels Over 40 Employees Amid Corruption Claims

Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has terminated the employment of more than 40 staff members due to allegations of corruption and financial misconduct.

Chairman Ola Olukoyede announced the dismissals during a recent event showcasing the agency’s accomplishments. He emphasized the need for integrity within the commission, stating, "You can’t be fighting corruption when your hands are soiled with corrupt practices.”

Of the dismissed employees, five are currently facing prosecution, with additional cases in preparation. Olukoyede also highlighted the EFCC’s successes, including the recovery of 1.23 trillion naira ($923 million) and a remarkable 75% conviction rate in recent years.
