Eiffel Tower to Reopen Following Controversy Over Gender Discrimination

The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris is set to resume operations on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after a brief closure sparked by a dispute regarding the treatment of female employees during a visit from a Hindu religious group.
The operating company, SETE, faced backlash after it was revealed that female staff were instructed to limit their visibility during the visit of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The company admitted that it should not have accepted conditions that marginalized women, leading to the staff walkout.
In a statement, SETE confirmed that a meeting between management and employees occurred prior to the reopening, addressing the concerns raised by the workers. The BAPS organization later expressed regret for the incident, stating that no one was denied access to the Eiffel Tower and that their visit was coordinated to minimize disruption.
