Houthi Attacks Result in Injuries and Disrupt Saudi Energy Operations

On Tuesday, a series of attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, leading to significant injuries and operational halts in the world’s largest oil-exporting nation. According to Saudi authorities, 73 individuals were wounded as a result of these assaults, which were condemned as a severe escalation of hostilities.
The attacks occurred in several southern cities, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, igniting fires at multiple sites. Emergency services responded promptly to manage the situation, with the Saudi energy ministry confirming that they are assessing the damage. “The needed measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the facilities and workers,” the ministry stated, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining operational plans despite the disruptions.
In response to the attacks, Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry vowed to defend the kingdom's sovereignty and called for an immediate cessation of Houthi aggression. This incident comes amidst rising tensions in the region, particularly between the United States and Iran, which have further influenced oil prices. Following the energy ministry's announcement, Brent crude futures increased by $1, reaching $98 per barrel, while U.S. crude saw a rise of over $2 to $93.65.
