By Editor • September 2, 2026 • 1 min read

A Gulfstream V jet carrying Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin made a successful emergency landing at Reagan Washington National Airport on September 2, 2026, following an engine failure.

While en route from Atlanta to D.C., the pilot reported a failure in the right engine, prompting the emergency landing around 1:35 p.m. ET.

Mullin praised the United States Coast Guard pilots for their professionalism, stating, "The single engine landing felt routine. No panic, just straight professionalism." He noted that this was a first-time experience for the pilots involved.
