Escalating Tensions: Israeli Strikes Claim Lives in Gaza Amid Militant Arrest

In a recent surge of violence, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City resulted in the deaths of at least three Palestinians, including two children. The strikes occurred during an operation aimed at apprehending a senior Hamas militant, as confirmed by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz.
According to reports from Gaza officials, the air raid followed an Israeli special forces attempt to carry out a mission in the area, which prompted Hamas to retaliate. Witnesses reported Israeli warplanes unleashing at least 12 missiles near the crowded Katiba area, where many displaced families reside.
In addition to the three fatalities in Gaza City, a separate incident in central Gaza led to the death of another child due to Israeli gunfire. Medics have reported numerous injuries amid the chaos of airstrikes and ground assaults.
Katz emphasized Israel's commitment to preemptively neutralizing threats from Hamas, stating, "This is our policy: we do not wait for threats, but rather pursue Hamas terrorists, thwart them, and destroy their terror infrastructure." Despite a ceasefire established in October 2025, violence continues to mark the region, with over 1,300 Palestinian casualties reported since its inception.
