Esoteric, the renowned Japanese audio manufacturer, is set to launch its latest turntable, the T-01, which showcases an advanced magnetic drive system. This innovative design follows the brand's successful introduction of the Grandioso T1 turntable in 2022. By eliminating traditional belts and mechanical contacts, the T-01 uses magnetic induction to create a smoother, vibration-free playback experience.
Magnetic Induction Drives Performance
The T-01’s operation is built around what Esoteric terms its MagneDrive System. Instead of the conventional belt-driven mechanics, this turntable features a Magnetic Driver that employs alternating magnetic poles. This driver, positioned away from the platter, generates a magnetic field that rotates a soft-iron induction wheel, which is closely aligned with the aluminum platter without any physical contact. This design minimizes unwanted vibrations and rumble, allowing for precise playback at both 33 and 45 rpm.
Lightweight Design with Heavy-Duty Features
Weighing in at 13 kilograms, the T-01's aluminum platter is engineered to feel much lighter due to Esoteric's Magne-Float technology, which reduces the effective load on the spindle bearing. This allows the platter to rotate with less friction while maintaining its mass inertia, crucial for stable sound reproduction. The turntable's triple-layer chassis combines aluminum and wood for durability and aesthetic appeal, complete with a high-gloss piano-lacquer finish.
Precision Engineering for Superior Sound
In addition to its innovative mechanics, the T-01 incorporates Esoteric's Master Sound Discrete Clock motor driver, enabling precise control over platter rotation. Users can synchronize the turntable with external 10MHz master clocks for enhanced accuracy. Weighing 35 kg and measuring 539 mm wide, the T-01 is designed for optimal performance, with the motor securely housed within the chassis to further reduce noise and vibration. Starting September 2026, audiophiles can expect the T-01 to redefine analog listening experiences.
