Exploring Desire in Feudal Japan

On a ferry, a man listens to two young men discuss their contrasting views on love. One is consumed by passion, while the other dreams of a solitary life in a "country without women." After disembarking, the curious listener trails them into the woods, where they arrive at a rustic cottage marked "Hut of a Sensuous Hermit." There, an elderly woman, embodying refined beauty despite her age, greets them. The young men seek her wisdom, admitting their ignorance about the depths of sensual love and requesting her life story.
