Max Bemis, frontman of the band Say Anything, has postponed several acoustic performances due to allegations of inappropriate messaging with underage fans. On August 29, the band informed followers via Instagram that Bemis would be stepping back to focus on his mental health.

The controversy began last week when screenshots reportedly showing Bemis's flirtatious messages with two teenage fans circulated on the Say Anything subreddit. These allegations have raised questions about the upcoming collaborative album, Cherry Soda, with Wavves, set for release on September 18.

In a recent Patreon chat, Wavves' frontman Nathan Williams expressed his discontent with Bemis, stating, "on a professional level [Bemis] was awful" and that he preferred to distance himself from him. He also mentioned that he largely wrote Cherry Soda, which complicates its future after 10,000 records have already been pressed, despite the possibility of re-recording it as a solo project.
