FX's 'Adults' Sees Audience Growth in Strong Second Season

FX's comedy series 'Adults' is breaking the mold for second seasons by experiencing a significant rise in viewership. Since its debut on August 27, the show has garnered positive reviews and enthusiastic word of mouth, resulting in a 40 percent increase in streaming on Hulu and Disney+ compared to its first season.
This surge in popularity can largely be attributed to international audiences, where viewership on Disney+ has doubled compared to the inaugural season. While the exact baseline figures for season one remain undisclosed, the internal streaming data from Disney indicates a successful trajectory for the series.
Another factor contributing to this growth is the release of a prequel episode titled “Marathon Day,” which aired on July 31. Show creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw devised this episode as a way to entice new viewers while providing context for those who had not followed the show since its first season. “FX came to us and said, how should we welcome viewers back… we figured we should do an origin story,” said Kronengold.
