A man in his sixties has confessed to a shocking pattern of drugging and raping his wife that spanned over 20 years. This admission was made in Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, where he entered guilty pleas for numerous sexual offenses, including rape and assault.

The defendant, whose identity is being withheld to protect his wife's anonymity, pleaded guilty to a total of 60 charges, which include five counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and six counts of assault by penetration. The latest admission adds 45 new charges to his record, including 16 counts of rape and four counts of attempted rape, dating back to 2004.

As he stood before the court, the accused visibly broke down in tears while entering his pleas. His wife was present in the courtroom, supported by family members, as the jury was sworn in to hear the case. The prosecution has yet to open its case, but the impact of the man's actions has been profound.

Rick Jackson, Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, emphasized the importance of supporting the victim amidst this complex investigation. He urged anyone who suspects they may have been affected by drug-facilitated sexual abuse to come forward, highlighting that they will be taken seriously regardless of the circumstances surrounding their experience.
