Good Good Golf Leadership Resigns Following Controversial Ad

By Editor • September 3, 2026 • 1 min read

In a significant shake-up, Good Good Golf's leadership has resigned amid backlash over a controversial advertisement that depicted a disturbing scene of a man pushing a woman to the ground. CEO Matt Kendrick and President Joe Flannery exited the company, as confirmed by Alex Puchala, head of finance and operations.

The advertisement, which was intended as a parody of the horror film 'Obsession,' featured a male golfer aggressively preventing a female player from touching his new driver. After the ad was released online on August 20, it quickly drew criticism, leading to calls for a boycott of products from Callaway, which co-branded the video.

Callaway issued an apology and initiated an investigation into the ad's approval process. CEO Chip Brewer emphasized that the content did not align with their values, stating, "We are unequivocally against discrimination, domestic violence or threatening behaviour of any kind." In the wake of the controversy, Good Good also canceled its title sponsorship of an upcoming PGA Tour event in Austin, Texas, while retailers like Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods removed its merchandise from shelves.

Garrett Clark, a co-founder of Good Good and the actor in the ad, referred to it as "the worst ad known to man" in an apology video, asserting it did not represent their principles.
