In a troubling incident in Guangzhou, southern China, a man was apprehended by police after a knife attack left several people injured outside a hot pot restaurant. The attack took place at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, September 14, in the Panyu district, according to a police statement released later that evening.

The suspect, identified as a 35-year-old man with the surname Li, reportedly caused injuries that were described as "non-life-threatening". Eyewitness footage shared online depicted chaotic scenes in a shopping center, with at least three victims visibly wounded on their faces.

CCTV footage from the scene captured the moment the assailant, wearing a face mask, stabbed a woman as he passed her in front of the restaurant. Further videos showed police responding rapidly to the situation while bystanders fled the area in panic.

This incident adds to a disturbing trend of knife attacks in China, where such violent acts have occurred with increasing frequency in recent years. Earlier this year, an attack in Shanghai resulted in injuries to three individuals, including two Japanese nationals.
