Major Counter-Terrorism Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Result in Over 20 Terrorist Deaths

In a series of military operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from September 3 to 5, security forces successfully eliminated more than 20 terrorists, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

The operations are part of a larger campaign against the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which the state refers to as Fitna-al-Khawarij. The ISPR claims these groups are backed by India and have been attempting to infiltrate Pakistani territory.

Details of the Engagements

One significant encounter took place in North Waziristan during the night of August 31 to September 1, where security forces confronted 25 terrorists attempting to cross over from Afghanistan. Initially, 15 terrorists were neutralized, followed by the elimination of an additional 10 who had taken refuge in the area.

In a subsequent operation, security forces detected movement from another terrorist group along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, resulting in the neutralization of seven more terrorists due to precise engagement tactics.

Implications of the Operations

ISPR highlighted that the ongoing violence underscores the Afghan Taliban regime's failure to prevent terrorist organizations from using Afghan soil for cross-border attacks. The statement firmly reiterated Pakistan's commitment to securing its borders and addressing foreign-sponsored terrorism.

In addition to the North Waziristan operations, four terrorists were killed during encounters in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khel as part of the joint operations aimed at restoring stability in the region. The military remains dedicated to its counter-terrorism strategy, coined ‘Azm-i-Istehkam,’ emphasizing comprehensive efforts to eliminate such threats from the nation.
