Manchester City Introduces AI-Designed Kit by Fans

In a groundbreaking move, Manchester City has unveiled its new alternative kit, uniquely crafted by fans using AI technology. This marks a significant milestone as these uniforms are the first professional kits designed collaboratively through AI tools.

The kit was created using Puma's AI Creator, a generative tool that allows users to manipulate design elements through text prompts and sliders. Launched in December 2024, the platform has seen participation from over 200 countries, resulting in more than 180,000 submissions and 1.7 million votes.

Among the finalists, Elliott, a lifelong fan, won the contest with his design featuring blue vertical stripes on a white jersey, reminiscent of past kits. The winning design integrates the club’s badge and logos for Puma and Etihad Airways, highlighting a blend of tradition and innovation.

While some critics labeled the design as “AI slop,” Puma’s Dominique Gathier praised the initiative for engaging the fanbase and transforming the kit creation process into a community-driven experience.
