MVRDV Unveils Vibrant WOMA Housing Project in Wynwood Norte

In a bold architectural endeavor, MVRDV has introduced WOMA, a mixed-use development in Miami's Wynwood Norte that features a strikingly colorful facade and innovative stacked design. The project, developed by Ecuador's Uribe Schwarzkopf, occupies the site of a former coffee roasting company and comprises 163 residences.
The building's exterior showcases a playful mix of colors, including bold reds, greens, blues, and sandy hues. This fragmented massing, characterized by varied block sizes and recessed windows, resonates with the neighborhood's existing low-rise structures, ensuring it remains inviting from street level.
Emphasizing Wynwood's artistic heritage, the design incorporates textile-inspired facades and nods to the area's past as Miami's Fashion District. The residential units range from micro-units to larger apartments, with select duplex atelier residences featuring double-height windows. These live-work spaces are designed to foster creativity, allowing residents to showcase their work directly to the street.
At the heart of WOMA lies a public plaza adorned with Fornasetti's intricate glass mosaics, providing a vibrant gathering space. This area will host retail and office spaces, enhancing community interaction. Amenities include a rooftop pool and wellness terrace, nestled among the colorful blocks, which effectively integrate into the overall structure.
With plans for a Brightline station nearby, WOMA is set to become a dynamic addition to Wynwood Norte, blending residential living with a thriving cultural scene.
