Netflix has announced an exciting lineup of new South African content, highlighting the platform's commitment to local storytelling. Among the fresh offerings is the comedy series 'How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents,' set to premiere on October 30.

This latest addition to the 'How to Ruin' series is produced by Burnt Onion Productions in collaboration with Jayan Moodley, known for 'The Kandasamys.' The show promises to blend humor with cultural themes as it follows the journey of an interracial couple navigating the complexities of their families' differing traditions.

Reality Show Highlights

In addition to scripted series, Netflix is set to cater to South African fans of reality television. The platform revealed the hosts of the upcoming series 'Love Is Blind: South Africa,' featuring popular couple Dineo and Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa. This show, produced by afrOkaans, is eagerly anticipated and will launch later this year.

Moreover, viewers can look forward to 'Stars & Vows: Anele and Buzza,' a wedding docu-soap from Dopezuluboi Productions. Netflix is also working with BrightFire on a new dating reality show, although details about this project remain under wraps.

Returning Favorites and Industry Impact

Netflix’s announcement also included updates on returning series and films. Fans can expect the second season of 'Blood Legacy' on September 25, along with sequels like 'Seriously Single Too' and 'Another Disaster Holiday' set for release in 2026. The series 'Tuiskoms' and 'Marked' will also return for new seasons, and production is underway for 'Meet the Khumalos 2.'

Reflecting on its decade in South Africa, Netflix noted its significant impact on the local industry, having filmed across 20 cities in eight provinces and supported over 8,000 jobs through collaborations with more than 30 local production companies. VP of Content for Netflix Middle East and Africa, Ben Amadasun, emphasized the platform's dedication to sharing South African narratives and fostering partnerships within the creative community.
